COVID-19 Pandemic Habits Worth Keeping

Guest Writer…. Emma Grace Brown

The COVID-19 pandemic affected every country globally and led to many changes in the way people live, work, and play. Of course, everyone will be happy when mask mandates and social distancing requirements are no longer necessary. However, some new habits emerged during the pandemic that are worth keeping.

Cherish Your Smaller Social Circle

Small gatherings were all the pandemic allowed you to have, which may have forced you into a smaller social circle than you were used to. By now, though, you've probably noticed the benefits of having a few close friends with whom you have deeper relationships. You know you can be honest with those in your circle and each of you are always available to support and encourage one another.

Manage Your Anxiety

A worldwide pandemic was a new experience for everyone who didn't live through the Spanish Flu in the early 1900s. You may have coped with the anxiety by learning to meditate or do yoga. Maybe you started hiking or camping and discovered how being outdoors in nature calms you. Perhaps you took up cooking, painting, or writing a screenplay or novel. All of these new activities are worth keeping in a post-pandemic world. Not only are they excellent at relaxing you, but mental health experts also say learning new skills keeps your mind healthy too.

Change Your Career Goals

The isolation of the pandemic gave you plenty of time to reassess your career goals to determine if you are on the right path. Perhaps you developed an idea for your own small business and are ready to take action on it. The first step is to create a business plan to map out how you will start and develop your company. A great place to start is forming a limited liability company for your business to give you more flexibility, less paperwork to deal with, and tax advantages. It also limits your personal liability, should your company be sued in the future. Each state has its own LLC regulations, so be sure to check your state's requirements first. Then, you can use an online formation service (click here) to file the necessary paperwork or do it yourself to save on lawyer's fees.

Support Small Businesses

Another habit to continue is supporting small businesses in the Tahoe area by buying their products, attending Tahoe Boho workshops, and eating in their restaurants. These companies help your community by providing jobs for residents and increasing the tax income for your city.

Maintain a Cozy Home

The pandemic forced you to spend a lot of time at home, making it important to keep your place cozy and comfortable so you enjoy being there. A simple way to make any room feel inviting is to add a vase of fresh flowers or scented candles. You can update a living room with new throw pillows and a nice blanket. Buy expensive sheets for the bedrooms and new artwork for the walls. Adding an outdoor oasis with comfortable chairs and a small fountain or fire pit lets you relax outdoors from the comfort of your home.

These new habits you picked up during the pandemic are worth keeping in the future. Whether it's the friends you became closer to or the business you started, these changes can benefit you for years to come.
